A Home for Sock Needles

Yesterday I finished all of my house work early and decided to sit down and make something for myself. It's been a long time since I've done that. I always either give away what I make or put it on etsy. I decided it was time to make some things I've been needing! For starters...my double point needles have needed some organization since they all live in the packages they came in which consists of cardboard and flimsy plastic, not a nice home you see. So yesterday, I designed and made this:
The outside is made of grey linen (which I'm in love with) and the inside is cotton calico scraps. I can name what each one is from! I also matched the fabric to the needles to help me remember which size is which, and embroidered the sizes on the outside of each little pocket.
It snaps closed, keeping my sock needles all safe and cozy!
I bound all the edges with bias tape, and there is a very thin layer of batting between the fabrics to give it a little padding.
I'm quite smitten with it. I've been carrying it around with me everywhere, I even put it on my nightstand when I went to bed because I couldn't stop looking at it. I think I need to make myself things more often...it's such a rare thing I don't know how to handle it!
Next I need to make a case for the rest of my double point needles!
I hope you are all having a lovely Tuesday!

PS I've made one of these for the shop, you can check it out here!

  1. This is so cute! I need to make a needle case but usually get overwhelmed at the thought of designing one to fit all my needles. Maybe you just solved my problem... Individual cases for needle types and sizes. Hmmmm
Anyway, yours is darling! : )
