A Home for Sock Needles

Yesterday I finished all of my house work early and decided to sit down and make something for myself. It's been a long time since I've done that. I always either give away what I make or put it on etsy. I decided it was time to make some things I've been needing! For starters...my double point needles have needed some organization since they all live in the packages they came in which consists of cardboard and flimsy plastic, not a nice home you see. So yesterday, I designed and made this:
The outside is made of grey linen (which I'm in love with) and the inside is cotton calico scraps. I can name what each one is from! I also matched the fabric to the needles to help me remember which size is which, and embroidered the sizes on the outside of each little pocket.
It snaps closed, keeping my sock needles all safe and cozy!
I bound all the edges with bias tape, and there is a very thin layer of batting between the fabrics to give it a little padding.
I'm quite smitten with it. I've been carrying it around with me everywhere, I even put it on my nightstand when I went to bed because I couldn't stop looking at it. I think I need to make myself things more often...it's such a rare thing I don't know how to handle it!
Next I need to make a case for the rest of my double point needles!
I hope you are all having a lovely Tuesday!

PS I've made one of these for the shop, you can check it out here!

Sewing Room Tour

Alright! I've finally got some pictures of my sewing room! They are not the clearest...I blame my camera even though it's probably me. :P Hopefully we will have a new camera before the year is through.
The Project Table: Where I do all my planning, dreaming, scheming, and sometimes I just sit there and crochet because it's fun. It will also be my cutting table if I ever get around to cutting anything out. The quote on the wall is from Vincent Van Gogh, "If you hear a voice within you say 'you cannot paint,' then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced." It inspires me.

Sewing Table: We brought this table with us from Oregon, my dad made it! Britton had the brilliant idea to put the sewing table in the window...so much better with natural light and now I can look outside while I sew!
Cozy Nook: This is for Britton to sit in if we are ever both working. He works on the computer sometimes while I work on projects. It's nice to have him in there. And it's nice to have a comfy chair to sit and knit in if I ever want to. This chair used to be his grandpa's so it's special. :)
I have this big Ball jar leftover from the candy jars from our wedding and I love stuffing leftover bits of yarn in it to one day make into granny squares or some kind of itty bitty project.
My mom sent us with lots of homemade canned goods when we moved here and whenever we finish something off I always seem to need the jar for something...

Alright...now I'm off to make something in my clean new room!

Spring Cleaning

I made a list this morning of every area in my room to go through and deep clean. My goal is to take one a day and I should be done in 13 days. Today I tackled the bathroom...and I even washed all my hair accessories which I don't think I've done in years! I thought they were pretty all laid out to dry. I even washed my shoes today which wasn't on the list, bonus! :)
Now I think I've earned a cup of peppermint tea and cookies while I look at my new bundle of TOAST magazines.
My how good it feels to have accomplished a big task like that.
Anyone else in the spring cleaning mood?
